Riders with a valid MTA pass may ride free on GBT, NTD and Milford Transit buses during the time that MetroNorth service is unavailable.
GBT, Norwalk Transit (NTD) and Milford Transit are making local bus services available for free to train riders while train service is interrupted. Any passenger boarding a bus who shows a monthly MetroNorth ticket for May, is not required to pay a fare. Simply show your valid MTA pass to the driver.

GBT service will not run Tuesday morning. We are currently assessing the possibility of resuming services to some routes by Tuesday afternoon. We'll have an update this evening after 8 PM.

June 21, 2011 Detour  - Route 5 Riders

On Tuesday, June 21 GBT Route 5 buses will be detoured due to a day-long construction project at the intersection of Canfield Avenue and Brewster Street in Black Rock. Route 5 will not travel on Schofield Avenue and will turn around by turning right onto Fox Street, right onto Canfield Avenue and Right onto Brewster Street. The bus will not serve Schofield Avenue and Canfield Avenue east of Brewster Street. Riders boarding at these locations should use bus stops along Fairfield Avenue.  No schedule delays are expected. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Congressman Himes and Mayor Finch to Announce Federal Funding for GBT

We are pleased to announce that GBT will be the recipient of a grant of $1,167,945 for the construction of the first phase of the Facility Expansion and Improvement Project (FEIP). The funding is from the Federal Transit Administration's discretionary State of Good Repair program and will be matched with $291,981 from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The first phase of the project includes the replacement of the 80,394 square foot roof on our maintenance and storage facility at One Cross Street in Bridgeport, to be followed by the installation of a vegetative roof and photovoltaic power generation system in a later phase.

From Saturday, July 24 through Sunday, August 1, the 2010 Gathering of the Vibes Concert will be set-up and held in Bridgeport's Seaside Park. This event requires the closure of Waldemere Avenue, served by Route 1 and the section of Atlantic Street from Iranistan Avenue along Seaside Park, served by Route 9.Â

On Saturday July 3 after 4 pm CL buses will not enter CT Post Mall in Milford. Buses will pick-up and drop-off on the Post Road in front of Macy's and at the corner of East Town Road when traveling from Bridgeport and on the Post Road in front of Burger King when traveling to Bridgeport.Â

Additionally, please remember that on Monday July 5 all GBT routes will operate according to Sunday Schedule.

The Bridgeport Fire Department and Greater Bridgeport Transit will take the "wraps" off the "We'll Install it for Free" bus marketing campaign designed to promote the Fire Department's Safe Asleep Smoke Alarm program during an event at the downtown bus terminal on Thursday, June 24 at 11 a.m.

On Sunday, bus drivers from Greater Bridgeport Transit brought home First Place awards in every category at the Connecticut Statewide Transit Roadeo. Free Local Bus Service for Train RidersÂ
Riders with a valid MTA pass may ride free on GBT, NTD and Milford Transit buses during the time that MetroNorth service is unavailable.
GBT, Norwalk Transit (NTD) and Milford Transit are making local bus services available for free to train riders while train service is interrupted. Any passenger boarding a bus who shows a monthly MetroNorth ticket for May, is not required to pay a fare. Simply show your valid MTA pass to the driver.
