Earth Day - April 22, 2014

Please join us for our annual Earth Day activities.

Every year we like to take the opportunity to thank our riders on Earth Day. We are here for you and because of you. Whether you take the bus to work or school, the grocery or the doctor, the park or downtown — we want to thank you. Your support helps make the Bridgeport region a healthier and more prosperous community. Thank You!

Food Drive

April 14 - 23 | On Board Food Drive

Just bring a non-perishable food item onto any GBT bus and drop it in the cardboard box. All donations to benefit the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.


April 22 | 6:30 am - 6 pm | GBT Bus Station

LOCATION: 710 Water Street, Bridgeport CT 06608
Stop on by the GBT Bus Station for our annual event. We'll have free T-shirts and reusable shopping bags while supplies last. We'll also be collecting food to help those in need. Students from Bridgeport Public Schools will be giving a poetry reading in the afternoon, followed by a live broadcast from the bus station on Radio Cumbre, 1040 AM. We hope to see you there!

6:30 am - 1 pm | Food Drive

Words on Wheels Poetry Reading & Roosevelt School Choir
Word on Wheels 2014 Kickoff at Roosevlet School

Students participating in the Words on Wheels program will be giving a poetry reading. We'll be giving away GBT T-shirts right after the reading.

Radio Cumbre - 1450 AM

4 pm - 6 pm | Radio Cumbre Live Broadcast

Join us for a special treat of salsa and merengue music live broadcast from the bus station. We’ll have live callouts about various activities in the region including: Green Initiatives, CTrides Week, TransformCT, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and Transit Oriented Development.

Join the Greater Bridgeport Regional Council for a public meeting to share your ideas about what you think about the future of our community.

We’ll talk about housing, transportation, water, and other infrastructure investments to make neighborhoods more prosperous, allow people to live closer to jobs, save households time and money, and reduce pollution. Everyone’s input will be used to help us create a Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) for the Greater Bridgeport Region.
