Riders Are Back!

You may have noticed that Access ridership is growing β€” we are experiencing a surge in demand for transportation. While we are working to rapidly expand our capacity to meet the new demand, in this newsletter there are some tips for riders to ensure that everyone who needs a trip, gets to travel.

Be Ready

Be ready and waiting during the time period your reservation agent tells you β€” you will need to remember your pick-up time from your reservation and be waiting where the driver can easily find you. If an up-to-date contact phone number is provided, we will call you five minutes prior to the bus arriving. The driver will provide door-to-door assistance to doors at ground level but cannot enter the home of any rider at any time or lift a rider in or out of a vehicle.

Change of Plans? Let Us Know

If you need to change your reservation, please call the reservation number as soon as possible. Changes to a reservation should be made at least one day in advance. Remember, your driver cannot make changes to your trip at the time of boarding.

No-Shows & Cancellations

When a rider is not ready for his or her trip, or is not available to ride when the bus arrives (no-show), the service and other riders suffer. Additionally, when a rider makes numerous reservations and then cancels them, he or she is holding service which could be used by another rider. Please be considerate of others using the service and only make reservations when you intend to travel.

Flexible Schedule?

Hispanic blind man, latino people with disability, handicapped person and everyday life. Visually impaired man with walking stick, crossing the street.

Demand for GBT Access is heavier during some times of day. If you have flexibility in your schedule consider booking your trips on weekdays between 10 am and 2 pm, or on weekends.

Delays

Sometimes weather, traffic conditions, or unexpected events may delay the bus. If the bus has not arrived by the end of your pick-up time, please call the Access dispatch office at 203-579-7777 to inquire about your ride.
