CHART: GBT Funding Gap - 30% service cuts to fixed route bus service and 100% cuts to microtransit

30% Service Cuts

As GBT exhausts the federal pandemic relief funding that currently supports its operations, a substantial budget shortfall is projected in FY 2027 (beginning July 1, 2026). This budget gap will hamper GBT’s ability to maintain its full scope of services.

GBT is currently planning service cuts. To get more information about these cuts, please gogbt.com.

“It is critical that new, sustainable and adequate funding be allocated to GBT to preserve current transit services.”

―Steven DeMichele, GBT CEO

“As a student and a full time hard working individual, a lack of available public transportation will represent a significant setback for my personal growth. The Bridgeport bus service is more than a fundamental part of my commute; without the bus, the daily activities that are currently shaping my future will be significantly impacted.” – Kelvin D. “Public buses don't just move people from place to place; they move entire communities toward greater possibility.”
