CHART: GBT Funding Gap - 30% service cuts to fixed route bus service and 100% cuts to microtransit

30% Service Cuts

As GBT exhausts the federal pandemic relief funding that currently supports its operations, a substantial budget shortfall is projected in FY 2027 (beginning July 1, 2026). This budget gap will hamper GBT’s ability to maintain its full scope of services.

GBT is currently planning service cuts. Details will be announced in the coming weeks. These cuts will have to be implemented if new funding is not available to fill GBT’s budget gap.

“It is critical that new, sustainable and adequate funding be allocated to GBT to preserve current transit services.”

―Steven DeMichele, GBT CEO
